Witch Hazel Uses
It’s strange sometimes how many applications acne treatments can have. I mean tea tree oil works for shingles, retinol sometimes works for fine lines and thickening the skin in general, and now witch hazel is being used for herpes, those cold sores, genital herpes, it really doesn’t matter.
Generally speaking, witch hazel is sometimes used externally and sometimes internally to tighten up the pores, shrink them down, tighten the skin in general. It’s a powerful astringent, and apparently that also helps with cold sores. It’s completely natural, and in terms of its uses against acne, it has never been known to really commonly cause side effects at all. It also removes excess oil, which might have something to do with why it works on cold sores.
Usually anything you use for a cold sore will essentially dry up while burning a bit the cold sore. But witch hazel doesn’t actually burn, which is realistically a good thing. You can apply it by just using a simple cotton ball placed over the sore. There are sometimes tingling sensations associated with it. But realistically the pain goes away from your sore very fast, and there is no pain from the witch hazel itself.
